Hello and Welcome! :)

Hello! and welcome to my blog, here I'll be uploading the progress i have made involving my media coursework. I have chosen to do print, so therefore i am making a preliminary school magazine and the final peice which is going to be a music magazine. My school magazine will have only a front cover and contents page, where as the music 'mag' will have a front cover, contents and double page spread. I hope to be making constant progress with my skills on photoshop and with cameras. I have a couple of magazines i hope to take inspiration from, one being Q, this because it has a varying range of musicians in it and there is no real bias to one style, however the other magazine i will study is KERRANG which is quite a big contrast, i enjoy reading this magazine and find it easy to navigate and read, therefore i want my magazine to be like this also.
I have already started thinking of names and layouts as you may see in my previous upload, the title 'NEW ERA' came into my head when i was thinking of the ever changing musical styles that are becoming increasinly popular, and therefore i thought it was the perfect title for a music magazine. I have also started to plan my double page spread but i will upload more information on that soon!

I started playing around with Photoshop and attempted to come up with titles for my music magazine and fitting images with the title. I have used one image of my own and taken one from Google images.
Here is my attempt:

THE BRIEF

 

For my Foundation Production I will be completing the folowing brief:

Preliminary exercise: using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. Additionally candidates must produce a DTP mock-up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their grasp of the program.

Main task: the front page, contents and double page spread of a new music magazine (if done as a group task, each member of the group to produce an individual edition of the magazine, following the same house style). Maximum four members to a group.

All images and text used must be original, produced by the candidate(s), minimum of FOUR images per candidate.
